Places You Should Visit In The South Of France

For our summer vacation we decided to visit France, we started in Paris where we stayed several days and then took a train to continue to the South of France. Something incredible is that the trains are very fast and in 3 hours we were on the other side of the country.

Do you want to know what they are? the dresses you need for this summer? Take a look at my previous article where I tell you.

Aix-en-Provence

We wanted to visit many restaurants and iconic places so we chose the following cities.

Aix En Provence

The first place we visited on our adventure in the South of France was Aix-en-Provence and it is beautiful.

The streets are very pretty, it is a picturesque city with many fountains (where you can drink water), the people are very friendly and the food is delicious.

We went in August so during the summer many places are undergoing renovation or are closed.

Something that was very useful for us when finding restaurants was the Michelin app, we find delicious food in very cool.

Hotel

The Renaissance

We chose this hotel because of the central location in Aix-en-Provence. The Renaissance It is part of the Marriott group, it is a small business hotel and has a refreshing pool. Within a few minutes walk there were bars, cafes, casual restaurants and a shopping center.

Restaurants

Something I love about the Michelin app is that you can find both Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as recommendations. Sometimes the recommendations are just as incredible but what I like most is that they are casual and you don't need to book far in advance.

Two of our favorite restaurants in Aix-en-Provence were:

Restaurant Pierre Reboul

The Pierre Reboul's restaurant with 1 Michelin star is located in Chateâteu de La Pioline, a building built in the 16th century, just 10 minutes from the city center. The food was delicious and we chose to eat in the garden part. It was one of my favorite meals during our stay in France. Here I tried the most delicious foie gras I have ever eaten in my life.

Le Pignonet

Le Pignonet It is a very nice restaurant located in a boutique hotel about 6 minutes from our hotel. We found this restaurant in the recommendations of the Michelin app and we loved it. The place was super photogenic and ideal to spend a pleasant afternoon with delicious food.

Saint Tropez

St. Tropez was one of my favorite places during our tour of the Cote d'Azur. The little town was super cute, colorful with many designer shops, restaurants, bars and a lot of atmosphere.

Something I want to mention is that during the summer there is a lot of traffic to get there, but in the end it is totally worth it.

Airbnb

We stayed in a Airbnb right in the center of St TropezEverything was within a few minutes' walk and it was a very comfortable apartment with a very nice view.

St Tropez

Restaurants

Le Cafe Saint Tropez

Our first day we visited Le Cafe Saint Tropez and let me tell you, the food was delicious. We ordered some breaded zucchini with cheese inside and a burger that was spectacular, I'm usually not a big fan of fries but the frites in France are delicious.

The place is very photogenic and the location is very central so you can walk.

La Ramade

Although I remember well we visited La Ramade our last night in St Tropez. The food was delicious, everything was very fresh, my boyfriend ordered meat and I ordered a small fish. Something very nice is that the restaurant is in a garden and everything is cooked over firewood.

La Ramade
Cafe Dior

Dior des Lices It is a stop you have to make if you visit St Tropez. The street is very beautiful and is surrounded by designer stores, it is ideal to go for a coffee or breakfast.

Cafe Dior St Tropez
Les Graniers

I think that Les Graniers It was my favorite restaurant during the day in St Tropez. It is quite popular so if you go, I recommend making a reservation. First of all, the food is super fresh and is accompanied with French fries, both the steak Like the fish they were delicious. Our dessert was the Tarte Tropezienne, which to this day I still think was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever eaten.

This restaurant is located on the edge of the beach, it has a very cool from where you can see people with their umbrellas and towels on the beach tanning and you can also take a dip in the sea.

To get there you can walk, you will see a small street called Les Graniers which you will follow until you reach the beach, you can also go by boat. I recommend you go early because there can be a lot of traffic if you decide to travel by car during the summer, plus the streets are narrow.

Le Girelier

Now, my favorite restaurant during the night was Le Girelier. It is located on Quai Jean Jaurés street, which is right in front of the port, which looks incredible at night. The food is spectacular, the meat is incredibly soft and the creamy truffle pasta will leave you speechless.

The street is full of restaurants and bars where you can find atmosphere, delicious food, drinks and have a very cool view of the port.

Tropezina Garden

Jardin Tropezina is located in Ramatuelle on Pampelonne beach just a few minutes from the center of St Tropez.

It has a nice bar where you can wait while your table is ready, a beach club and the best thing is that you eat with a view of the sea.

Cafe Laperouse St Tropez

Cafe Laperouse It was our favorite place in front of the port to drink snacks before lunch or a coffee before dinner.

During our stay in Saint Tropez the weather was quite hot and humid so it was very comfortable to sit while looking around with a bit of breeze and mist.

St Tropez

St Tropez was a very cool place and we had an amazing time, we will definitely return soon. The next place we visited on our tour was Cannes.

Cannes

Cannes is 1.45 minutes from St Tropez by car. It was a must stop being in this part of France so this is what we did.

Upon arriving in Cannes, a place that we could not miss is the iconic Hotel Martinez. It is located on Boulevard de la Croisette, which is one of the busiest avenues, you can find many designer shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and atmosphere.

Restaurants

The Palm D'Or

Palm D'Or It is the restaurant with two Michelin stars located in the Hotel Martínez, it has a beautiful view of the Boulevard and the sea, you can also see the sunset from the restaurant's balcony. Advance reservation is required.

The Palm D'Or

We each chose a different menu so we could try more of the chef's creations. Christian Sinicropi. The food was very delicious and we had a very pleasant night.

Of course we finished with French desserts and cheeses.

La Pizza Cresci

This was a recommendation from a local which we went to but we didn't wait in the long line to get into the restaurant, it is located at 3 Quai Saint-Pierre and apparently it is very popular. On this same street there are several casual restaurants and bars.

It was good to see Cannes but in my opinion there were too many people, if I'm honest there are other places on the Cote D'Azur that seemed quieter and very nice.

Mougins

About 20 minutes by car from Cannes is this cute little town of Mougins. It is a fairly small but very picturesque place, with very pretty streets, art, restaurants and casual bars.

Being located at the top of the mountain you have a very nice panoramic view.

Antibes

Antibes was one of my favorite places on the Cote D'Azur.

Hotel Belle Rives

Definitely Belle Rives It is one of the most beautiful hotels I have visited, it is located right in front of the mas and is the most photogenic. The restaurant downstairs is beautiful and the food is delicious and very fresh.

The service and attention is excellent.

I have to tell you that you cannot miss out on trying 2 or more desserts.

French Desserts

Belle Rives has a nice beach club called rose village. The beach is calm and the temperature is ideal for taking a refreshing dip.

The little town of Antibes itself is very pretty, quiet and full of beautiful streets to walk along. You can also find delicious restaurants, cafes, brasseries and more.

We loved walking until we found a nice restaurant on some corner where we watched people pass by.

It made me very happy to know that I could find rosé de Provence everywhere in France.

We loved the simplicity of Antibes and I am sure we will return.

Monaco Monte-Carlo

Being in the south of France we couldn't miss Monaco, it is 1 hour 10 minutes from Cannes.

Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo

We stayed at the most iconic hotel in Monte-Carlo, the Metropole It has a fairly central location so you can walk everywhere.

It has a large pool, 2 bars, one in the pool and very cool at the bottom, 2 restaurants and one with a Michelin star.

The pool was designed by fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld in 2012.

Restaurants

Monaco is quite small so we asked our hotel concierge for restaurant recommendations. They took care of calling and booking for us.

Everything is quite close and it is just a few minutes walk.

La Mome

La Mome It was one of my favorite restaurants in Monte-Carlo. The food was delicious and very fresh, the service excellent and the view was spectacular. You could see the port and the Monaco circuit from your seat.

Cafe De Paris

Cafe de Paris It is located opposite the Monte-Carlo casino. The lounge is amazing and the food is delicious, you have to try the desserts, the “Eclair” was my favorite.

Horizon Rooftop

The Horizon Rooftop It is located on the top floor of the Fairmont hotel and has an incredible view of the Riviera sea and the Mediterranean. The food is delicious and the service is very friendly.

Quai Des Artistes

Quai Des Artistes It is a slightly more casual restaurant. It is located right in front of the port and the food was very delicious. He lamb shank It was spectacular.

Things To Do In Monte-Carlo

  • One of the attractions in Monte-Carlo is the casino so I recommend you visit it.
  • Go shopping, there are many designer stores.
  • Rent a sports or classic car.
  • Visit the Monaco F1 circuit.
