MeroToro: Baja California Cuisine

MeroToro CDMX

If you are looking for authentic and delicious food, this is an excellent option that I recommend you to try. MeroToro It is located in Hipodromo in CDMX, on Amsterdam street and the restaurant is Baja California food, I can say with certainty that it is the best Baja California food I have ever tasted. The service is amazing, everyone is very friendly.

They have an extensive list of Mexican wines and many from Baja California.

Do you want to know what they are my favourite dishes in CDMX restaurantstake a look at my previous article, where I tell you about them.

Menu MeroToro

Here are some of my favourite dishes that you will love.

First things first, we need an aperitif or a cocktail to whet our appetite and my favourite is Jamaica with mezcal, the Tigre Poblano is also very good.

Please note that the menu is subject to change.

Fish Ceviche Tostada

Everything on the menu is delicious, but this tostadita has a special place in my heart. It's a fish tostada topped with soft crab, a perfect combination of textures and without a doubt the ideal starter.

Something important is the habanero tatemado sauce that goes with all the dishes, it adds a rich spiciness and I love it.

Dorado Al Sartén

I had reservations about ordering fish once or twice because I thought it might be a boring option, but the truth is that it is delicious. The skin is crispy, the flesh is soft and the seasoning is incredible. Served with mashed cauliflower, mushrooms and other ingredients cooked to perfection.

Pork Jaw

I must admit that the first time I heard the name it didn't sound very appealing. Now I say it's my favourite, everyone should try it and the dish itself is a work of art. It's beef jowl with soft broccoli and a poached egg in the middle. Cut it up, mix it up and add some of that tatemada habanero sauce, it's finger-licking good.

Braised Beef Cannelloni

What I like most about MeroToro is that the dishes are totally different from any other restaurant I've eaten at before.

These braised beef cannelloni with beef jus, pickled onion and parmesan are delicious. When we go to MeroToro we opt to order the food in the middle, to share so we can try more of these delicacies and have room for dessert.

Almond Cake, Creme Anglaise

My favourite dessert without a doubt. The pastry is soft on the inside and when you cut it in half it absorbs the crème anglaise which makes an extraordinary combination of flavours that although it may seem simple, sometimes less is more. This little dessert was accompanied by a double espresso to finish it off.
