My Favorite Hotels in Antigua and Barbuda

Carlisle Bay

During the month of November I was fortunate to be in Antigua for a month. Throughout my stay I visited different areas around the island and that allowed me to have a broader perspective when choosing which side of the island was my favorite. Even though it is a small island and you can travel across it in 30 minutes, each place is different and has its own charm. For example, on the west side are the incredible turquoise waters of the Caribbean, while on the east side is the Atlantic Sea. We visited many hotels, we stayed on AirBnbs so I made a list of the ones that were my favorites.

If you have seen my Youtube videos He generally visited luxury hotels or larger hotel chains. Antigua, being a relatively small island, does not yet have such hotels, although a Rosewood and a Waldorf Astoria are planned. On my list of hotels are boutique hotels full of personality, small ones with personalized service and very cute.

I will return to the island in April 2022 so if you have any hotel recommendations that I should visit, please leave them in the comments below.

Coco Bay Resort

Honeymoon Escape

This hotel is located on the west side of the island, it definitely has one of the best views in Antigua and Barbuda. Cocobay It is made up of small cabins located on a hill. Each cottage It has a very refreshing plunge pool. If you've seen any of my videos on YouTube, I always mention that something very important to me is that hotel pools are heated. The truth is that we were more on the beach than in the room's plunge pool, I think they are ideal for photos, not so much for swimming. It also has 2 infinity pools with spectacular views. The hotel is for adults only.

Cocobay Antigua and Barbuda

The hotel is all inclusive, the food is good and everything is always fresh. Cocobay is a hotel for people who are celebrating their honeymoon so it has a more romantic vibe. It has a very nice little beach where you can swim, snorkel, among other sea activities. Kemley at reception was very helpful with things we needed and all the staff were very friendly.

Carlisle Bay

Perfect For A Family Trip

This hotel is located near the rainforest, the highest point in Antigua. The beach of Carlisle Bay It is perfect for snorkeling and you can see many fish. One of my favorite restaurants was the Caribbean one, located on the beach. Something we really liked was the Asian restaurant, it is only open at night. You have the option to choose between all-inclusive or not.

The atmosphere is a little more family-friendly, there is a large pool in the middle of the hotel and it also has tennis courts.

Gunpowder Suites

The Best for a Romantic Trip

Located in the heart of English Harbour, Gunpowder Suites I loved it because it was different from the other hotels as it was a historical site. It has a beach club called Boom with a nice restaurant overlooking the canal. Our room had a terrace with a beautiful view, ideal for having a coffee in the morning. It is a 5-minute walk from Falmouth Harbour, where you can find several restaurants, hummingbird, Maia South Point, Cloggy's They were my favorites and 15 minutes walk from one of my favorite beaches called Pigeon Point, where it is located Catherine's Coffee a very nice beach club on the seashore.

Boom, being a beach club open to the public it can fill up very quickly sometimes so I recommend arriving early or making a reservation.

Blue Waters Resorts – Cove Suites

Ideal for family holidays

This hotel is located in the north of the island, the design was very nice and it had a beautiful view of the sea. We stayed in the Cove Suites which have a private pool and we hardly spend as much time in the pool area or the sea. The pool had a perfect temperature and despite being a little away from the main area, there was drink service or anything we needed. We took a complementary kayak tour to a virgin beach, it was one of my favorite experiences because when we returned I was able to see a dolphin swimming near us.

The days we were staying at the Blue Waters hotel, the sea water was a little choppy and we couldn't go swimming, so we really enjoyed our own pool. The restaurants were nice and in the “Pelican” bar there was piano music at night.

I think that in the beach area there was a need for lounge chairs and umbrellas, there were not enough.

On my YouTube channel you can find the video of the full review I did about Blue Waters Hotel.

Curtain Bluff

Complete Relaxation

The Curtain Bluff hotel was our favorite without a doubt, from the staff, the food, the service, rooms, the beach among other things, everything was impeccable. It has 2 beaches, one quiet and perfect for doing all the water activities you can imagine, plus it was complementary and the other beach was ideal for surfing. The interiors and every detail were cared for, the most beautiful room we had in Antigua. In the restaurants there was live music, in the afternoons we decided to eat in the one facing the sea and at night in the outdoor lounge with a spectacular patio. The food was impeccable in both restaurants. On the beach there was always room to sit and incredible service, in the pool area too, the pool temperature was ideal.

The owner of the hotel was always attentive to everyone so it was a more personalized and warm treatment. One night he invited us to drink champagne and snacks at his house on the top of the hill. It was an amazing experience and we can't wait to return.
