Work Diary: Music Video Featuring Akil Ammar

Recording this video clip was a very interesting experience and I also met very nice people at work. It was at the beginning of my career as a model and I really liked the result that was obtained, so I will tell you.

It was December and I remember that I had to be awake at 2:00 am on a Friday, they would pick me up at 2:30 since where the recording was going to be done was outside of Mexico City and was 2 hours away and average without traffic, but with traffic it could increase the time too much.

One night before I had a small gathering with my roommates, we had bottles of sparkling wine, we drank a lot of cider, we ate a lot of chips and we ordered pizzas and wings, because it was one of those nights where we all met in the apartment and we were in a good mood. We didn't sleep late because we all had work the next day, but usually my dinners are small and light, but that wasn't the case that night.

That being said, the problem was not waking up at 2:00 am since I could sleep on the way. Usually the curves of the road make me nauseous and now imagine adding to that the little party I had the night before, the road was a nightmare. I felt so bad that I had to ask the driver to please stop so I could vomit, then we went to the OXXO and I bought some pills for motion sickness so I could sleep the entire way.

We arrived in Malinalco and it was beautiful. There were streams, the house was made of stones with huge gardens, there were horses and everything was green with mountains, I didn't imagine there was such a beautiful place near such a big city.

Upon arrival they sent us to breakfast. We ate a cochinita that was delicious, I'm from Yucatan and I can say I loved it. They made another menu for the vegan girls and they seemed very happy with the catering, everything was delicious.

Then they sent me to the wardrobe and makeup guys so they could get me ready. It was a very natural look that I really liked. At that time I had African braids in my hair so it was quick and easy to get ready.

It was very cold and one of the most disturbing parts was that at the end of the video, I was going to be swimming in the frozen stream. All day I was mentally preparing for that.

The girls I had to interact with were always friendly and very pretty. Many times in the modeling world I have experienced that sometimes people are stressed and not so sociable, but here it was the opposite. We ended up learning the lyrics to the song, after listening to it all day.

Akil Ammar He was always very friendly, he had this idea in mind that rappers might be tough as part of their image, but in addition to being kind and attentive he was always telling jokes, he's a pretty nice person.

It was an incredible experience. In addition to the fact that you always meet talented people in the field, I am excited when the result goes on air and you see what everyone's great team and effort achieves. It was worth the hypothermia.
